Before get start, note that OmniROM 7.0 for Nexus 6P is a test build, which means it is unstable, you will experience unknown bugs, lacks features and cannot be used as a daily driver. However, if you are ready to face few issues go ahead and install it on your device.
About OminiROM: Custom ROM fans might have heard about the ROM. Developed by various former CyanogenMod developers, OmniROM is available for a wide range of Android devices. It is lightweight and said that it is a more secure custom ROM concerning to privacy and NSA data collection. Note: Before proceeding with the below steps, backup every data you have on your phone. Also, create a Nandroid backup in custom recovery to restore your current ROM. Note: To install OmniROM, requires custom recovery (TWRP) and root access on your device.
How to Install OmniROM 7.0 on your Nexus 6P
- Download OmniROM (omni-7.0) zip file for Nexus 6 (angler) from here or from official site here (not yet live). Also, download Android 7.0 compatible ARM 64 Gapps zip file from here. Transfer both zip files to your phone’s internal memory.
- Now, boot your phone into TWRP custom recovery and wipe data, cache and factory reset.
- Go back to the main recovery menu, select Install, navigate to the OmniROM zip file, and flash it. Wait until the flashing process finishes.
- Once the ROM is flashed, flash the Gapps package in a similar way like you flashed the ROM file. Finally reboot your phone. Your Nexus 6P will now reboot with OmniROM (Android 7.0 Nougat). Leave your views in the comment section below. (Source)
