EMUI 5.0 (Android 7.0 Nougat) update definitely gives a better performance, good battery life, new features, refined EMUI 5.0 UI and overall a good performance on MediaPad M3, but some users found it laggy and slow performance. If your prefer Android Marshmallow afore the Nougat, this guide is for you.

Downgrading firmware on MediaPad M3is rather a simple process, but it requires knowledge on flashing firmware manually on Android devices. Also, you need to download Nougat rollback package (83.7MB) and Marshmallow (1.8GB) (EMUI 4.1) firmware. If you do not want Android 7.0 Nougat and wish to downgrade your MediaPad M3 back to Marshmallow, read on to know how it is. Pre-requisites for downgrading MediaPad M3 from Android Nougat (EMUI 5.0) to Marshmallow (EMUI 4.1):

  1. Ensure at least 70% – 80% battery charge remaining on the phone. 2. Make a backup of every data you have on the phone before proceeding with below steps. 3. Downgrade Huawei MediaPad M3 to EMUI 4.1 from EMUI 5.0

  1. Unzip the downloaded rollback package
  2. In the root of your device’s SD card, create a new folder named ‘dload’. Save the update.app into the dload folder.
  3. Now, turn of the device and then press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons. It will enter into software upgrade mode.
  4. After completing the flashing process, your phone will restart automatically. [The first part of downgrade process is over. In the second part, you need to flash the Marshmallow firmware]
  5. Unzip the downloaded Marshmallow firmware
  6. Save the update.app file inside the ‘dload’ folder (do not forget to delete the old update.app file from dload folder)
  7. Turn off your phone, press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons. It will enter into software upgrade mode.
  8. After completing the flashing process, your phone will restart automatically. To check your software version, go to settings > about phone > Build number > (Source – Huawei)
