If you own an Android One device (2nd Gen) and would like to experience the latest OS on it, then check out the installation instruction to update your 2nd Gen Android One device to the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat via LineageOS 14.1. You can install this custom ROM on any Android One phone (code named seed) powered by Qualcomm processor.

Before you start, note that the LineageOS 14.1 is a Nightly build, which means the ROM is unstable and include bugs that are not yet identified. However, if you are ready to face few issues, install LOS14.1 right way and experience Nougat. Note: The file given here is for 2nd Gen Android One devices (seed). Do not install it on 1st Gen Android One devices (sprout). The below guide assume that you have a bootloader unlocked Android One device with root access and latest version of TWRP recovery (v.3.0.2) installed. Important: Backup every data you have on the phone before proceeding.

How to Install LineageOS 14.1 on 2nd Gen Android One Devices

  1. Download LOS14.1 (seed) for Android One from here and Android 7.1 & device processor compatible Gapps package from here. Save both zip files on your device’s SD card.
  2. Switch off your phone and boot in to TWRP recovery mode (press Volume Up and Power buttons together).
  3. In TWRP recovery, select ‘Backup’ and back up the current OS (recommended).
  4. Now, select Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select wipe cache, dalvik cache, system, data and swipe right to confirm it.
  5. Now, go to main recovery menu, select ‘Install’, choose the ROM zip file and swipe to install it. Repeat this for installing Gapps package. Once done, reboot your device. Your Android One will boot into Android 7.1 custom ROM. Setup and enjoy. Leave your views in the comment section below.
