Since OTPs (one-time passwords) expire after a few minutes, it is useless to keep them on the phone. So, the Auto delete OTPs feature will be a handy way to de-clutter your messaging inbox. If you enable this feature, it will delete current and future OTPs permanently from your phone. OTPs auto-deletion is a part of the message organization feature of the Google Messaging app. Here is how to enable this feature to auto-delete OTPs from your phone after 24hrs.

Steps to Auto-Delete OTPs on Android Phone

  1. Open the Google Messages app on your phone and tap on the three vertical dots menu in the search box.
  2. Select Settings from the menu and then tap on the Message Organization option.
  3. On the next page, turn on the View messages by category” option.
  4. Next, enable the Auto-delete OTPs after 24 hrs option. You have now enabled to auto delete one-time passwords from your phone after 24hrs. Note that this feature is currently available in India on phones with Android 8.0 and up. Also, update your Google Messages app to the latest version from the Play Store to use the feature.
