In this tutorial, we will walk you through how to install OmniROM 6.0.1 manually on your Android phone. Before you get start, please note that the current ‘omni-6.0.1’ ROM is a Nightly build, which means it is not stable and may experience some unknown bugs. However, if you are ready to face few issues go ahead and install it on your device. As always, the ROM does not include the Google Apps (Gapps), so you need to flash it separately after installing the ROM. Also, if you need root permission on your phone, you need to flash SuperSU as well. Note that, before installing OmniROM backup every data on your phone. Also, create a Nandroid backup in custom recovery.

How to Install OmniROM 6.0.1 Nightly ROM on your Nexus 5X

Note: OmniROM requires custom recovery (TWRP) and root access on your Nexus 5. The installation procedure is common for all devices.

  1. Download OmniROM (omni-6.0.1) zip file for Nexus 5 [HERE] and for other devices [HERE]. Also, download Android 6.0 compatible Gapps zip file [HERE] to use Google services such as Google Play.
  2. Transfer both zip files to your phone’s internal memory.
  3. Now, boot your phone into TWRP custom recovery and wipe data, cache and factory reset.
  4. Go back to the main recovery menu, select Install, navigate to the OmniROM zip file, and flash it. Wait until the flashing process finishes.
