Custom recovery and root access on Huawei Mate 9 give users great opportunities, but some users end up with a non-booting device when doing that. In such a situation, restoring original stock ROM is the only recourse. Restoring stock ROM on Mate 9 is not a complicated process, but great care should be needed. Note that the below guide will unroot your device and wipe all data from the phone. Back up all data you have on the phone before proceeding with the below steps. Download, Titanium Backup, for instance, from Play Store and back up all your data first. Important: Though the guide will help you install stock firmware on Mate 9, there is no guarantee that the process will revert back your Mate 9 to factory state for warranty purpose. Note: The below guide is only for Huawei Mate 9 MHA-L09C432B126 and MHA-L29C432B126 models only.
How Restore Stock ROM on Mate 9
- Download stock ROM for your Mate 9 (L09/L29) to your PC from here (Download the one from the first post)
- Unzip the downloaded firmware file (use 7zip, for example)
- Connect your phone to your PC and create a folder named ‘dload’ on Internal storage.
- Now, copy the ‘update.app’ from the extracted firmware file and paste into the dload folder.
- Now, disconnect your phone from your PC and turn it off.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding Power + Volume Plus + Volume Down buttons together.
- Your phone should start installing the update (the file you have saved earlier).
