Here is a simple guide on rooting the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F international variant using Chainfire’s popular CF-Auto-Root and ODIN tool. CF-Auto-Root is the easiest root method and it will keep as close to stock firmware as possible. This root package will install the SuperSU binary and APK, as well as the stock recovery on your phone.
How to root International Galaxy S5
Warning: The below guide is ONLY for rooting Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) International variant. DO NOT attempt to root any other variant. Very Important: Rooting with this method will void your device warranty, because it will increase your flash counter, and trigger Samsung’s KNOX warranty flag. Requirements:
- CF-Auto-Root for Galaxy S5 SM-G900F (Download it from here. The package includes all necessary files including Odin) 2. Samsung USB Drivers installed on your computer (download it from here). Procedure
- Unzip the contents of the downloaded CF-Auto-Root zip file to a folder on your computer.
- Launch ODIN from the extracted files.
- Click the PDA button in Odin and select the file named CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.tar. Make sure you leave everything else exactly as it is.
- Put Galaxy S5 into download mode. To do so, power off it and press Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together. Press Volume Up to enter into download mode.
- Now, connect your phone to your computer via USB. ODIN should show a port number in the ID:COM box, if not, check you have properly installed Samsung driver for your device.
- If everything OK, click the Start button in Odin. Do NOT to disconnect your phone from the PC during the process. It’ll take some time to finish. The phone will reboot automatically.
