If you are interested, check out the guide below to update 2nd Gen Android One (Seed) device to Android 7.1 Nougat via official CM14.1 custom ROM. Owners of General Mobile 4G, Cherry Mobile One G1, I-Mobile IQ II, or any other Qualcomm variant Android One devices (code named seed) can install this CM14.1 build right away and experience Android 7.1 Nougat and its new features.

Before you start, note that the CyanogenMod 14.1 is a Nightly build, which means it is unstable and may include several bugs that are not yet identified. Therefore, it is advised to wait for the CM 14.1 snapshot build. However, if you are ready to face few issues, install CM14.1 right way on your Android One device. Note: The file mentioned in this guide is for 2nd Gen Android One devices (seed). Do not install it on 1st Gen Android One devices (sprout). Backup every data on the phone before proceeding. The below guide assume that you have a bootloader unlocked Android One device with root access and latest version of TWRP recovery (v.3.0.2) installed.

How to Install CM14.1 on 2nd Gen Android One Devices

  1. Download CM14.1 (seed) for Android One from here and Android 7.1 compatible Gapps package from here. Save both zip files on your device’s SD card.
  2. Switch off your phone and boot in to TWRP recovery by holding Volume Up and Power buttons together.
  3. In TWRP recovery, select ‘Backup’ and back up the current OS (recommended).
  4. Now, select ‘Wipe’ and then go to Advanced Wipe > select wipe cache, dalvik cache, system, data and swipe right to confirm it.
  5. Now, go to main recovery menu, select ‘Install’, choose the ROM zip file and swipe to install it. Repeat this for installing Gapps package. Once done, reboot your device.
